COLLAGE GARAGE

Take advantage of this opportunity to enhance your mark-making skills with confidence, delve into advanced composition awareness, and push the boundaries of your creativity with intensified artistic risk-taking. PAPER MARBLING

with Erin Pieronek

Choose Sun, Nov 17; Sat, Jan 18; or Sun, Jan 19: 9am to 3pm

Explore the mystery and magic that is traditional Turkish marbling, using a thickened bath and acrylic paint to create one-of-a-kind prints. Using handmade tools, you will learn how to throw paint and create basic patterns. By the end of the workshop, you'll be able to recreate classic patterns and explore new shapes and patterns by floating your paint on the water bath. Learn to create mesmerizing papers that can be used for bookbinding, collage, card making, decor and more. $135


LINOLEUM BLOCK PRINT MAKING

Saturday, Nov 23: 10am to 4pm

Join us for this special hands-on workshop focusing on linoleum block print making, where you'll learn how to how create and transfer your design onto a linoleum block, as well as the basic carving techniques that allow you to bring your vision to life. After the lunch break, you will also experience the satisfaction of inking your block and printing with it on the Museum's presses. You'll be able to keep and re-use your hand carved linoleum block for future projects, like cards, wall art, and more. Come join us for a day of creativity, exploration, and artistic expression. JAPANESE STAB BINDINGS

Sunday, Nov 24: 1pm to 5pm

Japanese stab bindings are used for beautiful handmade books that are wonderful for keepsakes; these books also make gorgeous gifts. In this workshop, you’ll learn about the art of Japanese bindings as you create a trio of projects. Using a variety of beautiful decorative papers, each participant will create books unique to them. This workshop is perfect for all skill levels. All materials provided. $100


HOLIDAY CARD PRINTING

Saturday, Dec 7: Noon to 4pm

Design and print your own holiday cards! After learning about the history of letterpress printing and how to set wood type, lock it into a chase, and ink the press, you'll be able to create 25 cards for the holidays! You'll also learn how to score and fold the cards in this hands-on and very active half-day workshop. All experience levels welcome. Minors (age 12-17) enrolled in this workshop must be accompanied by a paying adult. All materials provided. $120


SIMPLY SEWN BOOKS

We're sewing slim books! In this class, you'll learn various stitches and binding for making beautiful homemade books. No previous sewing experience necessary. $100


TYPESLAM

Saturday, Dec 14: Noon to 4pm

Get Creative in this half-day Letterpress Woodtype Type Slam! Participants will learn a bit of letterpress history, how to compose a message in wood type and lock it into a forme, and how to ink and print on a press to create your own poster. The four hours will be packed with lots of fun as Lorna & Janet share their love and knowledge of letterpress. At the end of the workshop, there will be a print exchange to share the fabulous creations. Everyone will take home a portfolio of prints. This workshop is hands-on and very active. All materials welcome; no experience necessary. $120


INTRO TO BOOKBINDING: Five Structures

Explore various approaches to book structures in this hands-on workshop! Learn the fundamental basics and mechanical knowledge necessary to create simple, soft-cover blank books based on folding, gluing, and stitching techniques. All materials provided. No experience required; beginners are welcome! $100
